Step 7

Invitation to Assessment(s)

After your application has been received and reviewed by USPS, a decision will be made about the following:

  • Was the application completed properly?
  • Does the applicant meet all eligibility requirements?
  • Has the applicant taken the assessment designated for this job?

If the applicant has completed the application properly and meets all eligibility requirements, then the USPS will address the matter of the assessment.

If the applicant has already taken the designated assessment, then the existing assessment score will be applied to that job application.

If the applicant has not yet taken the designated assessment, then the USPS will send an email to the applicant with an Assessment invitation.

Be on the lookout because now the clock is ticking. The email includes a link to the appropriate Virtual Entry Assessment and advises it MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN THREE DAYS.

If it is not completed by this time, you will be deemed ineligible for this position and any other position in this category.

And on top of that, you will not be eligible to retake that particular assessment for ONE YEAR! When the United States Postal Service extends an assessment invitation, it is a privilege and it is taken very seriously.

Not only do you have to wait an entire year if you do not pass your assessment, or if you do not complete it within three days, but you need to get a high score on your first attempt. If you do not do well on your first attempt, you will be stuck with a low score and will not be eligible to retake it for TWO YEARS.

The assessment invitation is typically delivered within a few minutes of submitting your application. However, there are occasions where it may take up to 20 minutes.

It will be an email which is automatically generated which sometimes causes it to go into a SPAM or Junk folder. Be sure to check there if you do not see it in your Inbox.

If you do not receive an assessment invitation the same day you submit your application, contact us via phone or Live Chat for assistance.

On the following pages, you will find samples of the Assessment Notification email and the attached official document. Personal information has been redacted for privacy.
